Katsuto Shinohara, MD is a native of Japan. He attended Yokohama
City University School of Medicine and graduated with highest
honors. He received three years of general surgery training at
Mitsui Memorial Hospital in Tokyo and completed his urology residency
at Kitasato University Hospital in Sagamihara, Japan. He came
to the United States in 1984 as a urologic oncology fellow at
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. After completing
the fellowship in 1988, he joined the faculty in the UCSF Department
of Urology.
Shinohara is currently an adjunct professor of urology at UCSF
and an attending surgeon at the Department of Veterans Affairs
Medical Center in San Francisco. He is a member of the American
Urological Association, the Japanese Urological Association, and
the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
