Michael DiSandro, MD

Research Interests

Pediatric Urology

DiSandro’s research concentrates on studying the role of environmental toxins in causing hypospadias and other genital anomalies in the developing fetus. With the Center for the Treatment and Study of Hypospadias he is developing translational research to test whether certain environmental toxins acting as endocrine disruptors affect normal male external genital development. DiSandro’s clinical research includes developing minimally invasive treatments for vesicoureteral reflux in children; as one of the principle investigators for a national multi-center trial he is evaluating the success and complications of subureteric injection for treatment with Deflux. Additionally, DiSandro is developing new surgical techniques for external genital reconstructive surgery in children.
